The City of Stoughton is asking residents and local businesses for help reporting a potential illicit discharge. Prohibited Activities
The construction, use maintenance or continued existence of illicit connections to the MS4
Directly discharging pollutants that is not entirely of storm water into the conveyance system
Prohibited Discharge
No person shall discharge material in to any storm sewer, catch basin or surfaces that drain to the storm sewer. Prohibited discharges include, but are not limited to:
Cleaning compounds including mop water, soaps and detergents
Paint
Human/Pet Waste
Oil
Grease
Combustible liquid
Organic material such as grass and leaves
What is the Stormwater Conveyance System?
Municipal separate storm sewer or MS4 means a conveyance or system of conveyances, including roads with drainage systems, municipal streets, catch basins, curbs, gutters, ditches, constructed channels or storm drains, which meets the following criteria:
Owned or operated by the City of Stoughton.
Designed or used for collecting or conveying stormwater.
Which is not a combined sewer conveying both sanitary wastewater and stormwater.
Which is not part of a publicly owned wastewater treatment works that provides secondary or more stringent treatment.
